Little Things Poem

Thoughts of a childhood memory!
This is an old poem I thought I would share with the whole world. I have been writing poetry since I was a little boy. This particular poem was written about 20 years ago....Hope you enjoy or it helps bring back memories for you....
Little Things
Some things in life seem big, when small.
Looking up to Daddy, he seems so tall!
As a child, front yards seem to go forever...
Grandma's advice, she's so clever.
Trees seem so high, clouds unable to reach!
sitting in the swing, eating a fresh grown peach.
Running free in the meadows with the sun going down.
Looking out the window, riding in the car through town.
Now, I'm grown! Everything seems so smaller...
I wonder why..We have to grow taller..
Memories captured from past time thoughts in my mind.
I seek the future, don't look behind..
Going for walks, reaching new land.
Little footsteps in the ocean sand...
Learning to do new things, little things like that...
Seems, my head was so small! When wearing Daddy's hat.
Catching lightning bugs in the back yard.
Life was easy, never too hard!
Now, I'm grown and everything seems so smaller!
I wonder, why we have to grow taller!
Walking near danger, mother holding my hand.
These little things and little ways..
Climbing up tree houses, oh so high!
Waving to good friends, goodbye!
Reaching higher grades each year of school.
Hoping to be liked, hoping to look cool!
First time crushes and little things like this....
Wouldn't trade it for the world, for I would miss....
The little things, I hold special in my heart.
Ol' Memories, please! Never depart..
Now, I'm grown and everything seems so smaller!
I wonder, why we have to grow taller?
Thanks for reading an old poem of mine! Can you relate to these childhood memories? Hope to hear from you....Sincerely,
Michael Gladden

I love your poem, and yes, I can relate...it brings back memories. Thanks!
what a cute poem...and yes it brought back many happy memories of being a child...great hub!
I pushed your green button!
while dreaming of my childhood sweetheart.
the little boy in me
ran giggling like a
wild tumbleweed to play with her
in the meadow of maybeland
where no one ever grows old
and the sun is always ten years warm..
and puddles are whole worlds to wade in...
sail paper boats...and watch clouds drift earthbound
in the rains mirror...we hold hands and dash over meadows
of forget-me-nots and chase all the grown up doldrums
with a butterfly net...casting them into a cave
and sealing it with big smiles.....
then we share endless hours of
nothing to do but have fun...
be funny and laugh at the silliest things..
and this goes on as it used to
when we were younger...forever and a grin
and then with a breathless fear and elation
I kiss her on her dainty cheek
and run away before the blush breaks full.
Excellent poem Michael...you took me back to the days....~~~MFB III
in this poem the poet says that we should not take the little things as worthless and useless due to there littleness. We should have in maind that all big bodies are made up of little particles.a little drope pf water make mighty seas .Small graines of sands make a beautiful wast land.similerly our little misstakes and wrong doings take us away from the right path to the valle of sins.little words of love can our foes our friend
